LEWISTON, Me. -- All 15 players on the roster scored today as the Bates College women's
basketball team won their New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opener,
97-57, over the visiting Tufts University Jumbos.
Bates (10-2, 1-0 NESCAC) used suffocating defense to open the game on a 15-4 run as Tufts hit on just two of its first 18 shots in the first eight minutes of play. The Bobcats ran to a 41-18 lead at halftime.
The Bobcats were led by 13 points from sophomore forward Lauren Dubois, who hit six of seven shots from the floor. Senior guard Kate Dockery was the only other Bates player to score in double figures with 12 points. The Bobcats shot 52.8 percent from the floor and forced 28 turnovers by the Jumbos, including 17 in the first half. The win was Bates' seventh straight in the series.
Tufts (7-6, 0-1 NESCAC) was paced by senior Emily Goodman (Briarcliff, NY), who scored 16 points, leaving her one shy of 1,000 for her career.
