HARTFORD, Conn. -- Senior forward Gretchen MacColl scored a game-high 16 points and added 12 rebounds, three blocks and three steals to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 65-48 win over the visiting Tufts University Jumbos in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.
The win lifts Trinity, ranked sixth in New England, to 13-3 for the season. Tufts lost its second straight and falls to 8-4.
Trinity went on an early 11-0 run to take a 15-5 lead with 11:15 left in the first half. Sophomore guard Bridget Dullea scored nine of the 11 points in the run. The Bantams took a 36-15 lead into halftime, shooting 55-percent from the floor (16-29) and out-rebounding the Jumbos, 22-9.
In the second half, Tufts cut the lead to nine twice, the second time after consecutive baskets by freshman center Emily Goodman (Briarcliff, NY), who had 15 for the Jumbos. Trinity scored the next eight points from there to extend it's lead to 63-46 with just 51 seconds remaining.
