WORCESTER, Mass. -- Freshman Emily Goodman (Briarcliff, NY) poured in 36 points, the third-best single-game scoring total in team history, but it wasn't enough as the Tufts Jumbos lost at Clark, 80-73.
Goodman converted 12 of 21 shots and was 12 of 13 from the line to score the most points by a Tufts player since Ellie Strobel set the team record with 44 versus Connecticut College on February 26, 1994. Goodman added six rebounds and two steals and is now averaging 17.6 points per game and shooting 53.9 percent from the field (97/180) in her first season at Tufts.
The Jumbos still fell for the third time in four games, dropping to 9-5 overall. Clark's well-balanced lineup had five players scoring in double-figures. The host Cougars led by five at the break, 37-32, and added a pair to the margin in the second half. Nicole Dias had 15 points, including 4 for 4 on threes, along with seven assists for Clark. Senior co-captain Molly Baker (Northfield, MA) had 18 points and 10 boards for Tufts, which means all the other players combined for just 19 points.
Tufts hosts NESCAC foe Hamilton on Saturday (Feb. 5) at Cousens Gym. Tip-off is 3 pm.
