JUMBOS AT BATES FOR 2010 NEW ENGLAND DIV. III CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS WEEKEND

Senior Jared Engeling is the top seed in the 55-meter hurdles

MEDFORD -- The Tufts University men's track & field team will compete at the 2010 New England Division III Championships this weekend (Feb. 19-20) at Bates College.

Action begins on Friday at 12 noon with the pentathlon. All other events will be held on Saturday, beginning at 11 am.

For Tufts, three competitors enter the weekend as the top seeds in their events. Senior quad-captain Jared Engelking (Westborough, MA) is #1 in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.71 seconds that he put down at the Bowdoin Invitational on January 30. Senior quad-captain Billy Hale's (Menlo Park, CA) school-record time of 2:28.70 in the 1,000 meters at Boston University's Valentine Invitational on February 13 is the top seed at the NE D3's. Senior Jesse Faller's (Burlington, MA) 8:28.73 time in the 3,000 meters at the same meet is the fastest in that event for this weekend's meet.

Tufts tied for second place at the New England Division III Championships last year.
