JUMBOS SEND SIX TO NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS WEEKEND

Senior James Bradley qualified in the high jump for the second straight year

MEDFORD -- Six members of the Tufts University men's indoor track & field team have qualified to compete at the 2009 NCAA Division 3 Championships this weekend (Mar. 13-14) at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Senior quad-captain James Bradley (Atkinson, NH) enters Nationals ranked fourth in the high jump based upon his season's best mark of 6'9" (2.06m) at the Tufts Stampede on February 7. This is the second straight year that Bradley has qualified for Indoor NCAA's. He was the New England Division 3 and ECAC Division 3 champion in the event this season.

Tufts' distance medley relay (DMR) ran a 10:00.63 to win the ECAC title this past weekend at the Gantcher Center, and the time qualified fifth for the NCAA meet. The Jumbo foursome consists of junior Billy Hale (Menlo Park, CA), senior Phil Rotella (Louisville, KY), junior Scott Brinkman (Alamo, CA) and junior Jesse Faller (Burlington, MA).

Faller is also entered in the 5,000 meter run with a qualifying time of 14:43.25 that he ran at Boston University on February 14. Junior quad-captain Nick Welch's (Seattle, WA) season-best in the 5K was one second better than Faller's, a 14:43.23 at BU that also qualifies for NCAA's.

The DMR will race on Friday to kick off NCAA action for the Jumbos in a straight final at 6:25 pm CST. On Saturday, the high jump competition begins at 3:30 pm CST and the 5K gun goes off at 4:20 pm.
