MARCY, SORENSEN & FALLER SET TO COMPETE IN NCAA
MEN'S TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
MEDFORD -- Senior quad-captains Dan Marcy
(Middletown, NY) and Dave Sorensen (Dover, MA) will be
joined by sophomore Jesse Faller (Burlington, MA) to
represent the Tufts University men's outdoor track & field teams
later this week (May 22-24) at the 2008 NCAA Division 3
Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Marcy is ranked fourth in the country for the triple
jump heading into the NCAA meet. He reached 48'3 1/2" (14.72m) at
the MIT Spring Invitational on April 19. Sorensen also enters the
NCAA's highly ranked in his event with a 9:10.73 time in the
3,000-meter steeplechase. He recorded that time at the New England
Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championships hosted by
Hamilton College on April 26. Faller joined the two captains last
Friday when he ran a 14:31.39 in the 5,000 meters at the IC4A
Championships hosted by Princeton University.
No Jumbos will be in action on the first day of the
NCAA's on Thursday (May 22). Sorensen will run in a straight final
for the steeplechase on Friday (May 23) at 7:20 pm CST. On Saturday
(May 24), Marcy is in action first thing with the trials and finals
of the triple jump at 11:30 am. Faller will run in the last
individual event of the championships, the men's 5K at 4:20 pm on
Saturday.
