Game Box Score

BUZZARDS BAY -- Tufts senior second baseman Steve Ragonese (Upper Saddle River, NJ) went 4 for 4 with a home run, four runs scored and collected eight RBI to lead a 13-hit Jumbo attack that accounted for a 22-4 runaway victory over Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Thursday afternoon. Just two games ago against Bates on Sunday in the first game of a double-header, Tufts scored a 26-3 win.

Tufts (9-6) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Ragonese's fifth home run of the season. MMA responded with two runs in the bottom half on a two-run homer by A.J. Garstang, but it was all Jumbos after that. They scored six runs in the fourth and eight in the sixth. Eight MMA pitchers allowed 15 walks and the Bucs committed seven errors in the three-hour contest.

Jumbo junior 3B Kevin Casey (Milford, MA) finished the game 3 for 4 with four runs scored and three RBI. Freshman Ian Goldberg (Lake Forest, IL) was 3 for 4 with three runs at the top of the order. Overall, the top three batters in the Tufts line-up (Goldberg, Casey, Ragonese) were 10 for 12 with 11 runs scored and 12 RBI.

Senior co-captain Adam Telian (Stoughton, MA) had a solid four-inning stint in relief, allowing three hits and no runs to get the victory. For Mass Maritime, Alex Foley finished 2 for 2.
