MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- After taking two from Tufts on Friday, Middlebury took two more on Saturday, with a pair of wins in their last at-bats. The Panthers extend their winning streak to eight games as they improve to 13-5, while Tufts falls to 12-11. The final scores were 10-9 and 8-7.

A two-run double by John Lanahan gave Middlebury a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game one. Tufts came right back in the second, scoring five runs as a two-run double by Jim O'Leary (North Easton, MA) sparked the inning. The Panthers trailed 8-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning with one on and two out before rallying to tie the game. Joe Ramoin reach on an error by the third baseman with the bases loaded to score Middlebury's first run. RBI singles from Noah Walker and Ryan Armstrong made it an 8-6 game before Lanahan plated two with a single to tie it up and force the game into extra innings. Nick Curato (Cumberland, ME) scored Brian McDonough (Hanover, MA) with a double to left center in the top of the inning, as Tufts regained the lead, 9-8. Middlebury answered in the bottom of the frame as Andrew Pavoni led off with a single. Dom DiDomenico followed with a double down the left field line, placing runners at second and third for Ramoin, who doubled to right center to end the game, 10-9.

Lanahan went 2 for 4 with four RBI, Ramoin was 2 for 5 with two driven in, while Armstrong, Walker, Pavoni and Gabe Broughton each had two hits. O'Leary had a big game for Tufts, going 4 for 5 with three RBI, two runs scored and three doubles. Curato finished 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles.

Christian Hansen picked up the win for Middlebury, improving to 2-0 with one inning of scoreless relief. Erik Johanson (Wynnewood, PA took the loss for the Jumbos.

Middlebury jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning of game two, behind a two-run double to left center by Lanahan. The teams exchanged solo runs in the second before Tufts plated four in the top of the third to tie the game at five. A two-run single by Chris Decembrele (Walpole, MA) gave the Jumbos a 7-5 lead in the fifth, before Middlebury tied the game with a pair in the bottom of the inning. Alex Casnocha had an RBI double to left, while DiDomenico plated a run with a single to center. The game remained at 7-7 until the bottom of the seventh where Pavoni led off with a double to left center. One batter later, Ramoin was the hero once again as he ended the game with an RBI double to center, giving the Panthers an 8-7 win.

Ramoin ended the game 2 for 4, Casnocha went 2 for 4 with two driven in, while DiDomenico had an RBI with a 2 for 4 performance at the plate. Brian Casey (Milford, MA) paced Tufts, going 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI, Ben Chang (Chicago, IL) went 2 for 3, while Decembrele went 1 for 2 with three RBI.

Steve Shortle moved to 3-0 on the season, retiring the last batter in the top of the seventh for Tufts. Adam Telian (Stoughton, MA) went the distance, suffering the loss.
