MEDFORD – Senior DH Greg Hickey (Medway, MA) continued to wield a hot bat, finishing 3 for 4 with five runs batted in, and sophomore 1B Bryan McDavitt (Holden, MA) added a 3 for 4 day with two triples in the Tufts University Baseball team's 9-2 victory over UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday afternoon at Huskins Field.

The win was the sixth straight and the 13th in the last 14 games for the Jumbos (16-6). The Corsairs dropped to 9-17.

Hickey hit two two-run home runs in the game, bringing his season total to five. The first gave Tufts a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and the second put the Jumbos ahead 6-2 in the fifth. Named NESCAC Player of the Week on Monday, Hickey added an RBI single in the seventh. McDavitt, who scored three runs in the game, tripled and scored in the seventh and brought home two more runs with another triple in the eighth.

Seven Tufts pitchers held UMass Dartmouth to seven hits. The Corsairs scored an unearned run in the second when junior 1B Dan Mancini (Marlboro, MA) led off with a single and scored on a Tufts error. A lead-off double by sophomore 3B Zach Schechter (Lawrence, MA) led to the second Corsair run in the fifth when he scored on an RBI single by senior 2B Jeremy Robidoux (Charleton, MA).

Sophomore P Carlos Lopez (Brooklyn, NY) got his first collegiate win for the Jumbos after allowing two hits and no earned runs in two innings to start the game. Senior Jeremy Davis (Little Falls, NY) later pitched two scoreless innings in relief for Tufts. Sophomore CF Chris Decembrele (Walpole, MA) was 2 for 4 with a run scored.

Freshman Brian O'Connell (Chelmsford, MA) was having a decent start for the Corsairs, allowing two earned runs in the first four innings before Hickey's second home run in the fifth. Mancini finished 2 for 3 to lead UMass Dartmouth offensively.
