ASHLAND, Va. -- The Tufts Jumbos scored at least two runs in all nine innings on their way to an impressive 28-5 victory over Randolph-Macon College in baseball action on Sunday afternoon. Tufts improves to 2-0 on its spring trip, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 3-6.

The Jumbos had 27 hits in the game, including a 5 for 5 with four runs scored and six runs batted in effort by senior CF Evan Zupancic (Lake Oswego, OR). Lead off man Jon Herbert (Davidsonville, MD) went 4 for 6 with two runs and five runs batted in. Zupancic swatted two home runs and Herbert also hit one. Senior P Dave Martin (Arlington, MA) was the recipient of this amazing support, going six innings while allowing three runs for the win.

Zupancic's two-run home run in the top of the first helped Tufts take a 4-0 lead. But Randolph-Macon answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning, two on a double by Seth Rapoza. Zupancic doubled home two more runs in the second, then hit another two-run home run in the third to help Tufts take a 10-3 lead. Before Randolph-Macon scored again in the bottom of the eighth, the Jumbos built a 26-3 lead.

Head Coach John Casey was able to use nearly his entire lineup. Freshman DH Josh Ludmer (Westfield, NJ) came off the bench for two hits and two RBIs. Sophomore 1B John McBride (Billerica, MA) also had two hits and two RBIs off the bench. Twelve Jumbos had hits overall, including 10 with multiple.

Rapoza, senior Keith Harvey and freshman Justin Mulkey had two hits apiece for Randolph-Macon.
