MEDFORD – Tufts University sophomore P Jon Lee (Manhasset Hills, NY) and Wesleyan University sophomore P Rob Guglielmino (Madison, CT) both pitched great games to lead their respective teams to wins during a double-header between the teams on Saturday afternoon. Guglielmino threw a no-hitter in Wesleyan's 10-0 win in the second game. Lee allowed just three hits as Tufts won the first game, 8-1.

In the first game, Lee allowed Wesleyan just one first-inning run on a lead-off walk by sophomore 2B Jim Barletto (Hull, MA) and a run-scoring single by senior LF Winsor Schmidt (Veradale, WA). The Cardinals put just four runners on base the rest of the way and Lee struck out six. The Jumbos scored four runs in the bottom of the first, an inning that featured an RBI double by sophomore 2B Jon Herbert (Davidsonville, NC) and an RBI triple by sophomore SS Brian Shapiro (Swampscott, MA). The top half of the Tufts order – sophomore CF Evan Zupancic (Lake Oswego, OR), Herbert, senior LF Todd Boutwell (Woburn, MA), junior RF Dan Callahan (Medfield, MA) and Shapiro – combined for all of the team's 12 hits, eight runs and seven of the eight RBIs. Herbert and Shapiro both had three hits and two RBIs.

In the second game, Guglielmino walked six, hit a batter and saw one batter reach base on an error during his no-hitter. Tufts threatened in the third on walks to Zupancic and Herbert, but Guglielmino retired Boutwell on a pop to second base that ended the inning. Tufts put two men on base again in the seventh, but Guglielmino preserved his no-hitter and shutout by getting Herbert to fly to right field. Wesleyan, which led 2-0 after three innings on a pair of RBI singles by Schmidt, broke the game open with six runs in the fifth. Sophomore RF Matt Johnson (Worcester, MA) struck the big blow with a grand slam for his first home run of the season. Sophomore Bill Robinson (Berlin, CT) added a two-run blast in the sixth to push the Wes lead to 10-0. Schmidt had three hits for the Cardinals, while Johnson also slugged a double for a two-hit game.

The split put Tufts at 6-6-1 overall and Wesleyan at 11-4-1 overall.
