MEDFORD -- The visiting Williams College Ephs scored four runs in the fourth inning leading to a 7-5 victory over the Tufts University Jumbos in the second game of a double-header in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) baseball action on Saturday afternoon. Tufts won the first game, 4-3.

After Williams freshman DH Justin Braeutigam (Evanston, IL) blasted a solo home run to open the scoring in game two, a two-out rally in the top of the fourth led to four Williams runs that sparked their 7-5 win. With the bases loaded, sophomore Mike Shipley (Discovery Bay, CA) and Fagan ripped RBI singles and a Tufts error provided another run for a 5-1 Ephs lead.

The Jumbos cut the margin to 5-3 when sophomore 1B Tim Ayres (Irvine, CA) doubled and scored on a Williams error in the fourth, then Boutwell walked and scored on a Callahan double in the fifth. In the third, Boutwell's ground out had driven home Surprenant, who led off with a single, for the first Tufts run.

Williams added two important insurance runs in the top of the seventh. Sophomore Billy Casolo (Stamford, CT) led off with a double. Junior C Tim Albrecht (Braintree, MA) bunted and Tufts went for a play third, but did not get Casolo. A botched double-play attempt by the Jumbos on senior Dave Carrillo's (Los Angeles, CA) grounder and another error led to Casolo and Carrillo scoring.

The Jumbos scored twice in the bottom of the seventh on a line single by Ayres and a sacrifice fly by Shapiro, but Ephs junior reliever Mark Daoust (Needham, MA) retired the next Tufts hitter to earn a save for himself and a split for the team.
