Gold Glove recipient Adam Telian

MEDFORD -- Adam Telian (Stoughton, MA) of the
Tufts University Baseball team was recognized as the best defensive
pitcher in the nation recently when he was awarded an American
Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Gold Glove. Only one
player is picked at each of the nine positions from among every team
in the nation.
A 2008 Tufts graduate, Telian completed his career
this spring as one of the top pick-off artists in the nation,
regardless of division. He had 11 pick-offs this season to go with
12 last year. Using his advantage as a left-handed pitcher, and also
employing great deception with his head, Telian picked off 34
base-runners during his four-year career. He fielded a perfect 1.000
this season in 31 chances (4 putouts, 27 assists). He made only one
error in 93 career chances (.989 fielding percentage).
Telian was the team's #1 starter this spring and
tied for the Jumbo-lead in victories with his 6-4 record. He led the
pitching staff with 46 strike outs. He pitched a 1-0, shutout
victory against Williams in the first round of the New England Small
College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Tournament.
