Senior Phil Rotella had two top finishes in

HANOVER, N.H. -- With the Tufts men's outdoor track &
field team divided up among three places this weekend, the group that
traveled to Dartmouth College on Saturday scored 38 points and finished
fifth out of six teams. Division 1 squads Dartmouth, New Hampshire and
Vermont joined the Jumbos, RPI and Middlebury College.
Senior Phil Rotella (Louisville, KY) scored high
in two events for Tufts. He was second the 100 meters with a time of
11.20 seconds. In the 200 meters, he finished third in 22.23 seconds. He
was the top D3 finisher in both events, and the second was the best
Tufts finish of the day.
Sophomore Sam Read (Barkhamsted, CT) placed third
in the pole vault, lifting himself over the bar at 13'11 1/4" (4.25m).
Junior Ryan Lena (Orono, ME) had a fourth in the 3,000-meter
steeplechase (9:36.97) and junior Isaiah Paramore (Charlotte, NC)
was fourth as well in the high jump, clearing 6'2 3/4" (1.90m).
No NCAA qualifying marks were reached by the Jumbos, but
junior Billy Hale (Menlo Park, CA) came close in the 800 meters.
His time of 1:53.49 was a half-second shy of the national provisional
time (1:53).He crossed the finish line in fifth place.
This was the last meet of the regular season. Tufts
competes at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Connecticut College next
Saturday.
