Two-time 3,000-meter steeplechase All-American Dave Sorensen

OSHKOSH, Wisc. -- Senior quad-captain Dave Sorensen (Dover, MA) of the Tufts men's outdoor track & field team finished his career in fine fashion on Friday, earning third place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event at the 2008 NCAA Division 3 Outdoor Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Sorensen ran a 9:03.53 mark that was half a second out of second place. Hamilton College's Peter Kosgei won the NCAA steeplechase with an 8:55.19 time. Sorensen earned All-America recognition in the event for the second straight year after finishing sixth last spring.

Competing on Saturday, Tufts sophomore Jesse Faller (Burlington, MA) was 13th in the 5,000 meters with a 15:04.45 time. Senior quad-captain Dan Marcy (Middletown, NY) was also in action on Saturday, but failed to qualify for the final in the triple jump with a best effort of 46-feet flat in the preliminaries.

With the six points scored by Sorensen, Tufts finished tied for 45th at the NCAA outdoor meet.
