CAMBRIDGE -- Senior quad-captains Dan Marcy (Middletown, NY) and Nate Scott (East Hartford, CT) won ECAC Division III Championships this weekend with tremendous performances to lead the Jumbo men's indoor track & field team at the meet hosted by Harvard University on Friday and Saturday.

Marcy won the triple jump with a 48'2 1/2" mark that is an NCAA automatic qualifier. He landed two inches beyond the NCAA auto mark of 48'0 1/2". Scott was the pentathlon champion with a new meet and school record total of 3,587 points. Scott did not win any of the five events, but with three second and two third place finishes he won easily. The Jumbos scored 18 points in the event as senior Derek Engelking (Westborough, MA) finished second with a 3,475 score.

Tufts placed fourth overall out of close to 60 teams at the meet with 35 points. Continuing the senior captain leadership of the day was Jeremy Arak (Ipswich, MA) in the high jump, scoring third-place points with 6'6 1/4" clearance. Senior Joe Brown also added one point to the Tufts score with an eighth place in the weight throw with 51'11 1/2" distance (15.83m).

Coach Ethan Barron and the national qualifying hopefuls now wait for official word on the NCAA Championships. The meet will be in Ada, Ohio at Ohio Northern University next Friday and Saturday (March 14-15).
