DEDHAM -- Senior Dan Marcy (Middletown, NY) improved his NCAA
provisional qualifying mark in the triple jump and joined four other
Jumbos in winning events at Northeastern University's Solomon Husky
Invitational on Saturday. The meet did not have team scoring.
Marcy went 46'2 1/2" (14.08m), two inches longer than his mark at
Stonehill College last weekend. Sophomore Trevor Donadt
(Northborough, MA) was close to the NCAA marks in both hurdle
events at Northeastern, winning the 400 in 54.8 seconds and placing second in the 110 in
15.13 seconds.
Junior Phil Rotella (Louisville, KY) also had a solid double for the
Jumbos, winning the 200 meter dash in 22.32 seconds and posting a
runner-up time of 11.19 seconds in the 100. Sophomore Scott Brinkman
(Alamo, CA) led a 1-2 Tufts performance in the 800 meters, winning
with a 1:57.04 time. Classmate Billy Hale (Menlo Park, CA) was
right behind him in 1:57.28. Sophomore Andrew Longley (Short Hills,
NJ) also gave Tufts a 1-2 finish in the 400 hurdles, coming in
behind Donadt in 56.15 seconds.
Junior Nick Welch (Seattle, WA) was a run-away winner in the
3,000 meter steeplechase with a 9:41.57 time. The Jumbos also got
seconds from seniors Dave Sorensen (Dover, MA) in the 1,500
meters (4:02.79), Chris Kantos (Apple Valley, MN) in the 5K
(15:23.17) and Jeremy Arak (Ipswich, MA) in the high jump (6'4"). The
4x100 relay teamed up to finish in 43.68 seconds, also second at the
meet.
Tufts has two meets on the schedule for next Saturday (Apr. 19), at
MIT and at Princeton University's Larry Ellis Invitational.
