BRUNSWICK, Me. -- Despite winning just one event, the Tufts men's
indoor track & field team had numerous scoring finishes to accumulate
107 points for second place at Bowdoin on Saturday. The Jumbos competed
against the Polar Bears, MIT, Springfield and Colby. MIT thundered to
the team victory with 240 points.
Senior Jeremy Arak (Ipswich, MA) was the Tufts winner with
clearance of 6'3 1/2" in the high jump. That event was especially
indicative of the team's performance, as Jumbos took five of the six
scoring finishes. Tufts scored 16 points with its 55-meter hurdle group.
Sophomore Trevor Donadt (Northborough, MA) won the final in 8.05
seconds. Senior quad-captain Nate Scott (East Hartford, CT), who
was second to Arak in the high jump at 6'1 1/2", also was the runner-up
in the hurdles (8.17 seconds).
The Jumbo 4x400 and 4x800 relays both ran to runner-up placements.
The 4x4 crossed in 3:26.30 and the 4x8 group put down an 8:17.04.
Individual runner-up performances were made by sophomore Billy Hale
(Menlo Park, CA) with a 1:58.66 time in the 800 meters and a 45'9"
jump in the triple by senior quad-captain Dan Marcy (Middletown, NY).
Coach Ethan Barron's team runs at BU next weekend.
