BOSTON -- Boston University's annual St. Valentine Invitational draws hundreds of competitors from across the nation, and the Tufts men's indoor track & field team was a part of it on Friday night. Head coach Ethan Barron primarily sent Jumbo runners to the event, with more of the field team competing at the MIT Invitational on Saturday.

The Jumbos had three top 20 performances at the BU meet, which features talent from Division I, II and III colleges along with professional and amateur entries. Jumbo sophomore James Bradley (Atkinson, NH) ran the 500 meters in 1:07.41 for 19th place. Senior tri-captain Nate Cleveland (Auburn, ME) was 20th overall in the 1,000 meters with a 2:31.02 time. Freshman Jared Engelking (Westborough, MA) was 18th in the 55 meter hurdles (8 seconds flat).

Freshman Andrew Longley (Short Hills, NJ) was entered in both the 200 and 400 meter dashes. He ran a time of 22.67 seconds in the 200 and and 50.45 seconds in the 400. Also doing a double for the Jumbos was freshman Ikenna Acholonu (Shoreline, WA) and junior Nate Scott (East Hartford, CT). Acholonu finished the 55 meter hurdles in 8.20 seconds and went 40 feet, 6 1/4 inches in the triple jump. Scott was also in the 55 hurdles (8.47 seconds) and went 20' 3 1/2" in the long jump.
