Nate Cleveland set a new Tufts indoor mark for the 600 meters on Saturday

MEDFORD -- The Tufts University men's indoor track & field team placed third out of 14 teams at its annual Stampede held at the Gantcher Center on Saturday. The Jumbos scored 90 points, finishing behind Williams (144) and Stonehill (96.5).

Senior tri-captain Nate Cleveland (Auburn, ME) ran a Tufts record time of 1 minute, 21.85 seconds to win the 600 meter run. The old mark of 1:22 flat was run by Ray Carre in 2004. Also on Saturday, Jumbo sophomore James Bradley (Atkinson, NH) hit the NCAA Championships provisional mark by clearing 6 feet, 7 inches in the high jump.

Talented Tufts freshmen hurdlers Jared Engelking (Westborough, MA) and Ikenna Acholonu (Shoreline, WA) went 1-2 in the 55 hurdles with time times of 7.91 and 7.92 seconds, respectively.

Also for the Jumbos, senior Josh Kennedy (Guilford, CT) earned second-place points in the 5,000 meter run with a 15:11.28 finish. The 4x4 tandem of Engelking, senior Dustin Virgilio (Pittsfield, MA), sophomore Skip Pagel (Mystic, CT) and freshman Andrew Longley (Short Hills, NJ) ran second in 3:27.55 time.

Longley also scored a third in the 400 (51.39), as did junior Joe Brown with a 53-foot heave in the shot put.
