DURHAM, N.H. -- With their top point scorers competing at the IC4A Championships in New Jersey, the Tufts University Men's Outdoor Track & Field team scored two points to finish in 36th place at the All-New England Championship meet hosted by the University of New Hampshire.
Junior Jason Galvin (Norwell, MA) improved his standing on the national lists with a strong performance in the Hammer Throw. His new personal record (PR) in the event of 172 feet, 6 inches led the Jumbos at the meet. The strong throw despite rainy conditions placed seventh and were the only points scored by Tufts. The distance is currently ranked 24th nationally.
Sophomore Josh Kennedy (Guilford, CT) also posted a PR Saturday, running the 5K. His 14:57.94 time, which placed just outside of scoring in the top eight, makes him the third Jumbo under 15 minutes in the last month. Freshman Jeremy Arak (Ipswich, MA) also narrowly missed scoring the Jumbos with a High Jump of 6'4" for 10th place.
Tufts competes in its final event before the NCAA Championships at Springfield College May 19-20 for the ECAC Division III Championships.
