Meet Results

LOWELL -- Sophomore Fred Jones (Northfield, MA) won the Long Jump and the Triple Jump at the George Davis Invitational hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell in outdoor track & field action on Saturday. His distance of 23 feet, 8 3/4 inches in the Long Jump improved the NCAA provision distance he set last week at home. In the triple, Jones jumped 46' 11" to also qualify provisionally for the NCAA meet.

Jumbos won five events overall at the meet. Junior Matt Lacey (Amherst, MA) fronted a field of 51 runners in the Two Mile Run with a time of 9:13.94. Sophomore Jamil Ludd (Washington, DC) won the 110 Meter Hurdles in 15.57 seconds, nipping Bowdoin's Joe Adu by 0.04 of a second. Freshman Jeremy Arak (Ipswich, MA) won the High Jump for the second straight week, succeeding at 6 feet again.

Junior Matt Fortin (Raymond, ME) ran 3:59.68 in the 1,500 Meters to take second place. Sophomore Joshua Kennedy (Guilford, CT) was the runner-up in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase in a time of 9:32.54. Junior Jason Galvin (Norwell, MA) continued to perform well in the Hammer Throw with a 165-foot performance for second place.

The Jumbos were also second in the 4 by 400 Meters Relay. Nate Scott (East Hartford, CT), Jones, Pat Mahoney (Cranford, NJ) and Trevor Williams (Clifton Park, NJ) combined for a 3:25.57 time.
