Meet Results

HANOVER, N.H. - The Tufts University Men's Indoor Track & Field team had a strong performance on Sunday, placing 12th out of 36 teams at the 36th Dartmouth Relays. The event took place in the Leverone Field House, located at Dartmouth College, to begin the second semester. Tufts earned 14 points, whereas first-place UMass Lowell earned 82.50 points.

Sophomore Fred Jones (Northfield, MA) led the way for the Jumbos, placing second in the Triple Jump, behind Mark Axt of Lemans Track Club. Jones reached a distance of 46 feet, 8 /14 inches, which earned the Jumbos eight points. Axt landed a 49-1 1/2 jump to win. Freshman Dan Marcy (Middletown, NY) also had a good performance in the event, landing a distance of 40-3 1/4 giving him fifth place. That earned two points for the Jumbos.

Along with Jones and Marcy, freshman Jeremy Arak (Ipswich, MA) and sophomore Jamil Ludd (Washington, DC) also earned points for the Jumbos. Arak earned three points and placed tied for fourth alongside Josh Woodbury of the University of Southern Maine in the High Jump. They both landed best jumps of 6'2". Ludd earned one point and finished sixth with a time of 8.75 seconds in the 60m Hurdles.

Other notable results posted by Tufts was a seventh and ninth place finish in the 3000m Run, by teammates Matthew Lacey (Amherst, MA) and Matthew Fortin (Raymond, ME), respectively. Lacey finished with a time of 8:36.40, 10.82 seconds behind first-place finisher Daniel Blouin of Universite Laval. Fortin finished only 2.35 seconds behind his teammate for a 8:38.75 time.

Junior Jason Galvin (Norwell, MA) had a good weekend taking 15th place in the the Shot Put, tossing it a distance of 42-6 1/4. He also took home a 10th place finish in the Weight Throw, with a distance of 46-2. Sophomore Ryan Byrne (Tewksbury, MA) was ninth in the Shot (45-1/2).

The Men's team is back in action this weekend as they host the Tufts Invite I event on Saturday. All the action begins at 11:00 am in the first home meet of the indoor season at the Gantcher Center.
