Meet Results
MEDFORD - The Tufts Men's Indoor Track and Field team ran its home winning streak to four
with a victory on Saturday at the Tufts Invitational #3. Head Coach Connie Putnam's team
scored 142 points and beat NESCAC and regional competition including Ithaca, Bates, Colby,
Stonehill, and Wheaton. Runner-up Wheaton tallied 106 points.
The Jumbos only won three events during the meet. Tufts proved to have more depth than the
other teams, and used other high finishes third place finished to secure the win.
Freshman Shawn Hansberry (Westford, MA) came up with one of those wins in the 600 Meter
run. He finished in 1 minute, 22.49 seconds, four seconds faster than the second place Bates
finisher. Another victory went to senior captain Bryan Pitko (Arlington, MA) in the 55 Meter
Hurdles. Finishing with a time of 7.85 seconds, Pitko beat out teammate
Nate Thompson (South
Portland, ME), who finished in 7.97 for second place. Thompson also finished second in the Long
Jump with a distance of 21 feet, 4 1/4 inches and third in the Triple Jump with a jump of 41
feet, 6.5 inches. Seth LaPierre captured the win in the pole vault with a vault of 14 feet even.
Sophomore Nate Brigham (Penacook, NH) took second in the 5000 meter run with a time of
15:11.05. Both the 4x400 and 4x800 teams came in second, with times of 3:27.21 and 8:15.47,
respectively.
