BRUNSWICK, Me. - The Men's Track and Field team competed at Bowdoin against the
Polar Bears, Springfield and MIT - three of the region's top teams - on Saturday and
placed third. In a tight competition, the Jumbos finished with 151 points, while MIT
scored 197.5 for first, Bowdoin scored 165 for second and Springfield finished fourth
with 132.5 points.
For the Jumos, sophomore Raynald Carre (Middletown, CT) won the 400 meter dash with
a time of 50.29 seconds. Classmate Nate Brigham (Penacock, NH) took first in the 5,000
meter run with a time of 15 minutes, 14.97 seconds. Senior tri-captain
Adam Sharp
(Alexandria, NH) earned a victory in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:36.44, while
classmates and tri-captains Bryan Pitko (Arlington, MA) and Greg Devine (Sprinfield, MA)
took first and second in the 55 meter hurdles. Pitko won with a time of 7.65 seconds
while Devine finished in 7.69.
Jumbos earning runner-up status for the meet were sophomore Michael Don (St. Louis,
MO) in the 3,000 meter run (8:53.64), Seth LaPierre in the Pole Vault (13 feet flat) and
sophomore Nate Thompson (South Portland, ME) in the Long Jump (21-8 3/4).
