WATERVILLE, Me. -- Junior D.J. Hessler (Monkton, MD) scored a man-down goal with 3:54 left in the game for the game-winning goal as the Tufts University men's lacrosse team held on for a 10-9 win over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday at Bill Alfond Field.

Colby (2-2 overall, 0-2 NESCAC) had tied the game at 9-9 when Mark Squicciarino tallied with 5:09 to play in the game. The Mules then got a man-up advantage when the Jumbos (3-0, 2-0) were called for a slash with 4:41 to play.

Junior Alec Bialosky (Moreland Hills, OH) had the assist on the Hessler goal. Hessler finished with three goals as did teammate Sean Kirwan (Boonton Township, NJ), who also had one assist. Junior Ryan Molloy (Setauket, NY), sophomomre Nick Rhoads (McLean ,VA), senior Doug DiSesa (Wynnewood, PA), and freshman Sam Gardner (Chelmsford, MA) also had goals for the Jumbos.

Squicciarino finished with three goals for the Mules. Patrick Briody had two goals and one assist, Ian Deveau finished with three assists, and Whit McCarthy also had two goals.

Sophomore Steven Foglietta (Oceanside, NY) made 12 saves, including five in the final period, for Tufts. Thomas Gianakos stopped 10 shots for Colby.
