MEDFORD -- The 19th ranked Tufts Jumbos beat NESCAC rival Williams College, 13-7, in men’s lacrosse action on Zimman Field today. Eight different Jumbos scored goals, with sophomore Casey D’Annolfo (West Hartford, CT) netting four to lead the way.

All-American and leading scorer Bryan Griffin (West Islip, NY) added two goals and two assists to the Jumbo attack. With the win, Tufts moves to 7-1 overall, 3-0 NESCAC and has now won five straight. That matches the team’s longest winning streak since 1987. Williams, which lost for the first time in three games, fell to 1-3 in NESCAC and 2-5 overall.

The game was tight in the first half, ending with Tufts leading 5-4.  The Jumbos took over in the third quarter. D’Annolfo led the charge, scoring the first two Tufts goals.  Sophomore Billy Granger (East Setauket, NY) also added two goals in the quarter and the Jumbos led 9-5 heading into the fourth. They scored four more times in the final quarter, including D’Annolfo twice. His fourth goal of the game at 5:10 of the fourth capped a three-goal run that gave the Jumbos a 12-6 lead.

Junior Luke Chico (Merrick, NY) made eight saves to earn the victory, which improved his career mark to 16-4.

Williams was led by junior Matt Barhight (Lutherville, MD), who had two goals and an assist. Freshman Chris Merwin (Baltimore, MD) also scored twice. Senior goalie Matt Rade (Orchard Park, NY) made 19 stops in a losing effort.
