HARTFORD -- Senior midfielder Jack Palmer (Vestal, NY) had four goals and an assist to lead the visiting Tufts University Jumbos to an 11-5 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon. Tufts improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the league, while Trinity drops to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the NESCAC.
Tufts led 5-3 at halftime, before a goal by Bantam freshman midfielder John Thatch (Berwyn, Pa.) pulled Trinity within one with 14:08 remaining in the third quarter. Tufts answered with Palmer's second score of the game less than a minute later, but Trinity senior tri-captain middie Sean Rohan (South Hadley, Mass.) netted his second of the day at the 12:29 mark of the third frame.
The Jumbos then scored four consecutive goals to take a 10-5 lead after three quarters and held the Bantams scoreless in the fourth. Tufts senior goalie Kirk Lutwyler (Ridgewood, NJ) made 13 saves, while Bantam senior Eric Wilson (West Hartford, Conn.) had 14 stops in net.
