The Tufts University Men's Lacrosse team lost its first game of the 2002 season against Colorado College 9-5 in a game played in Baltimore, Maryland. After winning their first two games the Jumbos were unable to stretch that streak and fell 2-1.

A four-goal third period by the Tigers was the key to the victory. Down only down 3-2 going into the third, the Jumbos were unable to stop Colorado's scoring spree as they tallied four goals compared with Tufts' one. In the fourth period the teams played equal, each scoring two goals, but the damage was already done.

Leading the Jumbos was Jon Zissi (Winchester, MA) with two goals. Freshman Bryan Griffin (West Islip, NY), senior Chris Taylor (Cambridge, MA), and sophomore Matt Malatesta (Wincherster, MA) each added one goal. Goalie Kirk Lutwyler (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) played all 60 minutes and had nine saves.

The Jumbos open up their home season with a game against Gordon on March 27th at 3:30 pm.
