PORT RICHIE, Fla. -- The Tufts University Men's Lacrosse team opened their season at the Sun Coast Tournament in Port Richie, Florida yesterday with a win huge win over College of Wooster by a score of 23-6.
The Jumbos started strong scoring seven goals on two assists in the first period, and consistently added to that total throughout the game. In the second period, Tufts scored six more goals ending the first half ahead by a score of 13-3. During the second half, the Jumbos scored five goals in each the third and fourth periods, easing their way to their first victory of the season.
Junior Dan Kollar (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) led the way for the Jumbos scoring five of the goals and adding an assist. Senior Greg Molinelli (Northport, NY/Northport) had four goals for the game while sophomore Jon Zissi (Winchester, MA/Avon Old Farms) had an even three goals and three assists. Eight other Jumbo players scored goals againt Wooster, including sophomore Brian Cunningham (Wayne, PA/Conestoga) who had two goals and three assists.
The Jumbos continue in the Sun Coast Tournament on Tuesday (March 21) against Hamilton College.
