CAMBRIDGE -- The Tufts men's lacrosse team finished the 2000 regular season with a strong 12-6 victory over Greater Boston rival MIT on Monday afternoon. Head coach Mike Daly's squad now awaits word on whether it will be selected for the ECAC New England Playoffs. Seeds will be announced on Monday (May 8).

The Jumbos trailed 2-0 early in the game, but rallied to lead 3-2 on sophomore Jim Mandler's (Smithtown, NY) goal with 1:25 left in the first. Tufts built a 7-3 lead at the half with four second-period goals, two by junior Dan Kollar (Middle Island, NY). They scored four more in the fourth quarter, including two by senior Greg Molinelli (Northport, NY).

The victory was the fourth in five games for the Jumbos, whose 9-5 record represents the most wins by the program since the 1994 team finished 10-5. Sophomore Kirk Lutwyler (Ridgewood, NJ) made nine saves in the Tufts cage. MIT net duties were split by Tim Nolan and Justin Verdirame, who each made seven saves. Matt VanHorne had two goals for the Engineers. It was Tufts' third straight win over MIT.
