MEN'S LACROSSE GAINS AT-LARGE BERTH INTO 2009 NCAA TOURNAMENT

MEDFORD -- The Tufts University men's lacrosse team earned a berth into the 2009 NCAA Division 3 Tournament, it was announced by the selection committee on Sunday night. The Jumbos (13-4) received a first-round bye and will host Western New England College (16-2) on Saturday (May 9) at Bello Field. The game time will be announced later this week.

The berth is the second for Coach Mike Daly's team, which finished as the NESCAC runner-up this spring. The Jumbos have matched the school record for victories with 13 this season. Tufts played in the 2007 NCAA's, defeating Endicott 9-8 in the first round before losing 12-7 at Gettysburg.

Western New England is The Commonwealth Coast Conference champion. Tufts defeated the Golden Bears, 15-4, when the teams met in Medford on April 7.

Tickets will be sold for the NCAA game. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for students and $3 for children. They will only be available on the day of the game at the gate, which opens one hour prior to game time.
