MEDFORD -- The New England Collegiate Officials Committee has voted
the Tufts University men's lacrosse team as the 2009 recipient of
the James "Ace" Adams Award for sportsmanship in District 1.
The award is named after former Army and Virginia head coach James
"Ace" Adams, a National Lacrosse Hall of Fame member who was well
known for the positive sideline demeanor he exhibited as well as the
strong character that his teams displayed. The officials award the
honor to the program which best displays sportsmanship of the
coaching staff, team, administration and fans, as well as facility
and game management.
The past five winners from District 1 have been Holy Cross, Brown,
Massachusetts, Middlebury and Southern New Hampshire University. The
Tufts program will be presented a plaque prior to the start of next
season.
