O'BRIEN, DORNSEIF ARE HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICANS IN LACROSSE

MEDFORD The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2006 Division III All-America teams on Sunday. Jumbos Mike O'Brien (Concord, MA/Middlesex School) and Wiley Dornseif (Littleton, CO/Phillips Exeter) were honored as Honorable Mention selections.

The team leader in scoring, O'Brien had 20 goals and 11 assists for 31 points. He led the Jumbos with 89 shots in 17 games and scored twice on man-up situations. He had a seven-game goal scoring streak in the middle of the season, including two each in conference games against Bowdoin, Williams and Colby. O'Brien was a repeat All-New England pick this spring and was an honorable mention selection as a sophomore in 2004.

Joining O'Brien as a repeat All-New England pick is Dornseif, a 6'2", 200-pound defender who has established himself as one of the nation's best. Tops among Tufts defenders with 37 ground balls, he also scored a goal against Eastern Connecticut. The Jumbos posted a 7.83 goals against average this spring.

This is the fourth straight year that Tufts has had representation on the USILA teams. Devin Clarke (third team) and Bryan Griffin were honored in 2005, Griffin was second team and Clarke honorable mention in 2004, and Griffin was on the honorable mention list in 2003.

Tufts finished the 2006 campaign 11-6 overall this season and was fourth in the NESCAC with a 5-4 record. The Jumbos advanced to the conference tournament semi-finals where they lost in three overtimes at Middlebury 12-11.
