PIERCE A D3HOOPS.COM ALL-REGION AWARD WINNER FOR THIRD YEAR

MEDFORD -- Senior forward Jon Pierce (Belmont, MA) of the Tufts University men's basketball team received D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region honors on Wednesday for the third straight season. Pierce was selected to the Third Team for the 2009-10 season.

One of the most prolific scorers in New England Division III history, Pierce finished his career with the Jumbos this season as the Tufts program's all-time leading scorer with 1,855 points. This season, Pierce averaged 18.3 points per game and is ranked 15th among scorers in the region through games played on March 14. Always a decent shot blocker for the Jumbos, he increased his per game average to 1.5 this year with 35 blocks in 23 games. Pierce also averaged 7.3 rebounds per game and finished with a .506 field goal percentage (163/322).

This is the fourth time Pierce has been honored by D3Hoops.com overall. He was a Second Team All-Northeast Region pick as a sophomore in 2008 and as a junior in 2009. Also in 2009, he was selected to the D3Hoops.com Preseason All-American Team.
