MEDFORD -- The Tufts University men's basketball team opens its 2008-09 season tonight at home against Babson College and the Jumbos will be led by junior forward Jon Pierce (Belmont, MA). The leading scorer in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) last year, Pierce was recently named to the Preseason All-America Honorable Mention team.

Pierce averaged 21.5 points per game last season, shooting .523 from the field overall (195/373) including .413 from three-point territory (43/104). He tied for fourth in the conference with 8.3 rebounds per game and was eighth in the league with a 1.0 blocked shots average. His 6.46 defensive rebounds per game was second in the league.
