The Tufts Jumbos placed five runners in the top eight overall to win the season-opening Hayseed Classic at home with a score of 25. Brandeis had four in the top nine to make it close, but finished at 36 points. Senior Matt Lyons (Wakefield, MA) led the Jumbos in second overall with a 26:22 time with sophomores Ben Smith (Noank, CT) and Jason Mann (Rosemont, PA) were also in the top five. Brandeis's Samson Yohannes won the race in 26:15.
