3/8/02Bryan Pitko, the lone Jumbo at the Division III National Championships advanced today to the finals, to take place Saturday, of the 55m Hurdles with a new school record time of 7.63.

3/1/02Tufts Men took 7th place in the ECAC Championships held at the Gantecher Center, 1 point behind Williams, but a good deal behind winner The College of New Jersey. Scoring points during Day 2 for the Jumbos were Greg Devine and Bryan Pitko in the 55m Hurdles, placing 4th and 3rd, respectively, Ray Carre placing 4th in the 400, with a National Provisional Qualifying time of 49.95, Adam Sharp placing 4th in the 1000m, and Ben Smith and Peter Bromka placing 3rd and 6th, respectively, in the 3000m. Results Day 2.
3/1/02In the first day of ECAC Championships competition, Tufts Men faired well. Jason Mann snuck into eigth place from the first heat in the 5k. Both Greg Devine and Bryan Pitko both advanced to the final in the 55m Hurdles. The Distance Medley Realy team of Adam Sharp, Greg Devine, Bryant Coen, and Ian Joseph ran a new school record of 10.07.35.

2/21/02Tufts Men came off a solid first day at the All-New England Championships at Boston University with a team score of 14. Taking points was JR Cruz in the 5000m (2nd) and the Distance Medley Relay team (3rd) of Ben Smith, Greg Deving, Bryant Coen, and Ian Joseph with a National Provisional Qualifying time of 10:12.13. Devine also advanced into the 55m hurdle semi-finals while Adam Sharp made the finals of the 1000m. Four freshman put on notable performances: Aaron Kaye in the 800m, Tom Tropea in the 500m, Ray Carre in the 400m, and Nate Thompson in the 55m hurdles.
2/16/02Tufts Men placed 4th of 24 teams in the Division III New England Championships behind co-winners MIT and Williams. Highlighting the Jumbo effort was a double scoring day for freshman Nate Thompson, taking 5th in the long jump and 4th in the 55m hurdles. Also scoring in the hurdles were Bryan Pitko and Greg Devine, placing 1st and 3rd, respectively. Pitko beat his own school record of 7.67. Also placing third was JR Cruz in the 5000m. Full results .
2/9/02Tufts Track & Field ended its indoor regular season by hosting the non-scoring Tufts Stampede Invitational. Tufts qualified more athletes for championssip meets. Winning their races was the Distance Medley Relay team of Ben Smith, Greg Devine, Ray Carre, and JR Cruz, James Lamoureux in the 3k, Bryan Pitko in the 55m hurdles, Greg Devine in the 400m with a Natioanl Provitional time of 49.85, and the 4x800m team of Alex Bailey, Micheal Stanton-Geddes, Loius Delesia, and Jacob Berman. 2/02/02Tufts Men placed 2nd, a mere 10.5 pts behind Springfield College, in a meet that came down to the final event (shot put). First place performances came from JR Cruz in the 5000m with a Nationals Provisional Qualifying time of 14:50.69, Greg Devine in the 55m Hurdles and 400m, Ray Carre in the 800, Ben Smith in the 3000m, and the 4x400m relay team of Devine, Carre, Andrew Bennedict, and Bryant Coen
1/19/02The order of events for the February 2nd Invitational has been changed to account for a larger field than expected.
1/26/02Tufts Men placed 3 of 4 teams behind winner Springfield College and host Bowdoin College. New school record was set by Bryan Pitko in the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.71, a national championship provisional qualifing time. Placing first in their events was Greg Devine in the 55m open and 400m, Pitko in the 55m hurdles, and the 4x800m team of Tom Tropea, Aaron Kaye, Ian Joseph, and JR Cruz. Also, the team scores from the January 19th meet have been updated. Also, the new indoor records from Pitko and Ray Carre's 600m from last week have been updated.
1/19/02Final results are posted. Team scores will be posted eventually. Ray Carre set a school record in the 600m with a time of 1:23.03.
1/13/02Due to a snow storm, Tufts was not able to make it up to the Dartmouth meet in Hanover, NH. The teams next meet will be held at home on the 19th. Check back on Saturday at 11 am for live updates. Meet information and order of events for the meet have been posted on the schedule page.

11/31/01The information for the Tufts Holiday Classic (Saturday December 8th at 11am) has been posted on the schedule page, including the order of events. We'd like to extend an invitation to all Alumni (Male and Female) to come race in the Third Annual Has Beens' Mile. No pre-registration needed.
