How can we fight against a barrage of messages telling us that our bodies
are never good enough? What skills do we need to develop to foster healthy
relationships with food, exercise and our own bodies?
Join us for this important conversation with Nancy Redd, a Harvard graduate
(Women's Studies) and former Miss America contestant, who is the author of two
books, Diet Drama and Body Drama, both of which deal with young women's body
image and how it impacts self-esteem and attitudes toward diet and exercise.
Body Drama is a USA Today bestseller, an NAACP Image Award Nominee, was
honored by the American Library Association in 2009.

This classic 1939 film—starring Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Norma
Shearer and Joan Fontaine—boasts a screenplay co-written by two women and 130
speaking roles entirely played by women. In a bold move, not a single man
is shown on-screen throughout the film. The Women deals with issues
of class, gender and sexuality by focusing on the complex and multifaceted
relationships between women. Discussion will be led by Assistant Professor
of Music, Stephan Pennington and Steph Gauchel, Director of the Women's Center.
