From the late 1980s through May 2009, the Writing Across the Curriculum was Tufts' "writing-to-learn" program that sponsored writing workshops associated with undergraduate courses in almost every academic department. The goal of the program was to help students attain a deeper understanding of course material and to promote intellectual interactions with instructors and fellow students. Many of the workshops also explicitly taught students to write more effectively, both through instructor comments and peer review.

The Writing Across the Curriculum Program is not currently active at Tufts, so this web site functions as an historical archive about the program. Tufts faculty interested in improving student writing should inquire about the Writing Fellows Program.
