For Sophomores & Juniors: General
Beinecke Memorial Scholarship
For juniors representing "superior standards of intellectual ability, scholastic achievement, and personal promise" who intend to pursue a PhD or MA in the arts, humanities, or social sciences upon graduation. Must be on financial aid. $2,000 grant plus 2 years of graduate support for up to $15,000 per year. Only one student may be nominated by each institution.

Michael Metcalf Memorial Grants Open to any college sophomores and juniors who are legal residents of Rhode Island. Grants of up to $5,000 are made for projects during the sophomore and junior years in college.

Institute for Responsible Citizenship
A highly selective leadership program for minority male college students. The Institute for Responsible Citizenship identifies students of impeccable character, unblemished reputation and demonstrated ability who are interested in careers in law, public service, education, journalism, business and the ministry; arranges internships to help them prepare for such careers; and provides academic training that inspires them to be responsible citizens. Applicants must be in their sophomore year.

Truman
In recognition of outstanding leadership potential, academic achievement, and the desire to pursue a career in public service. For juniors. Stipend is $3,000 for senior year and up to $27,000 for two years of graduate school.

Morris K. Udall Foundation
The Udall Scholarship seeks to reward undergraduates with the commitment and potential to make significant contributions to the field of the environment, tribal health, or tribal governance. For sophomores or juniors in the current academic year, have outstanding potential, and who study the environment and related fields (students in this category need not be Native American). Up to 80 scholarships of $5,000 are awarded.

The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship:
Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship Program
Open to U.S. citizens who have completed their sophomore year, with an overall GPA of at least 3.2. The award provides for tuition, a living stipend, reimbursement for books, and round trip travel between home and school during the recipient's junior and senior years as well as during the first year of graduate study. Recipients are required to attend a seven week summer institute between junior and senior year and are ultimately obligated to serve a minimum of 4.5 years as a Foreign Service Officer.
