"At this point in my career I can no longer afford to have an informal understanding of the political and economic environments that directly impact the communities that I serve. The UEP program will give me the additional knowledge I need to assure my colleagues, superiors, and the community that I have the knowledge and skills necessary to support them."

OVERVIEW

Students coming to UEP are quickly part of a wider community with their peers in the entering class, with UEP second year students and with alumni and faculty. We have a comprehensive orientation in August, a September welcome party and student organized get-togethers like 'Thirsty Thursdays' throughout the year. Faculty look forward to meeting all the entering students and getting to know their educational goals and future plans but they also like to just chat about what is going on in the world!

On their own, UEP students plan activities and group outings-to local bars, Tufts Loj, restaurants, house parties, pot-lucks, movie theaters, and when in season, Bruins hockey. First year students are encouraged to join in by blogging on 'Practical Visions', joining our social networking site 'Tufts UEP AlumniLink' or "mass emailing" the whole UEP crowd if they know of something fun or worthwhile happening, or if they want to get a group together for an event, to play sports or to just relax and hang out in Davis Square.

Boston is also chock full of fun, interesting and educational activities and places. There are live open air and indoor concerts and performances; there are cool cafes in the North or South End; there is Boston Common and Garden, Faneuil Hall, the Freedom Trail, the Aquarium or the Museum of Science. There is so much to see and do either on your own, in duos, or in groups that you will never be at a loss!

From wherever you are coming to wherever you are going, your time at UEP will be a memorable stop along the way!
