Ann Rappaport earned a B.A. in environmental studies and Asian studies from Wellesley College, a M.S. in civil engineering from MIT, and a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Tufts University. She has helped develop and implement the hazardous waste regulatory program in Massachusetts, and maintains an active interest in the dynamic relationship between environmental laws and regulations and innovations in environmental technology and corporate management of environmental issues. She is the author of Development and Transfer of Pollution Prevention Technology and co-author of Corporate Responses to Environmental Challenges: Initiatives by Multinational Management. Her current research interests include enterprise-level decision making with respect to the environment, institutional responses to climate change, voluntary initiatives related to companies and the environment, and contemporary issues in corporate social responsibility. She co-directs the Tufts Climate Initiative, the university commitment to meet or beat the emission reductions associated with the Kyoto Protocol.
