The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship
The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship was established in 1987 to provide college graduates with the opportunity to gain a Washington perspective on key issues of peace and security. Twice yearly, the Fellowship's Board of Directors selects a group of outstanding individuals to spend six to nine months in Washington. Supported by a monthly stipend, the Fellows serve as full-time junior staff members at the participating organization of their choice. The program also arranges meetings for the Fellows with policy experts. Many former Scoville Fellows have gone on to prominent positions in the field of peace and security. To date, 106 fellowships have been awarded.

This is the site of Richard Nelson Bolles, author of What Color is Your Parachute. By conducting a search for internships in say, Massachusetts, the site gives you all of the relevant search sites with internships listed particularly for Massachusetts.
 
Idealist
If you haven't been receiving their internship listings, sign up on this site! They feature internships in health, education, nonprofits and social services.
 
Internship Programs
A searchable database allows you to search hundreds of internship opportunities. For instance you can search for opportunities in Boston under community service/non-profits. You need to register (no charge) to have access to the database. The site has recently been updated so look for more opportunities here in the future.
 
Rising Star Internships
Another general listings site. The cool thing about this site is the variety of "search by interest" listings such as community service, consulting, ecology, environment, nonprofit, land use planning, watershed management youth development and even public policy and urban planning! The negative is that the listings are limited.
 
U.S. Department of State Careers
This is the Department of State's internship index. Some are domestic, others abroad, but most are unpaid. Regardless, you can land an internship in bureaus that cover human rights, the family liaison office, emerging infectious diseases and HIV/AIDS Program or oceans and international environmental scientific affairs.
