Did You Know?

As part of our mission to increase awareness on campus, VOX posts a series of “Did You Know?” flyers around campus. Check out the topics of some of our past flyers.

Did You Know...?

...There is a vaccine available at Health Services that protects against the most common types of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) that cause cervical cancer and genital warts. The vaccine, Gardasil, is a series of three shots given over 6 months. Each shot is $140 and is not covered by Student Health Insurance, but may be covered by other insurance providers.

...Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections in the world.

...1 in 3 college-aged Americans have HPV

...In most cases, the virus is harmless and goes away on its own, but it can cause genital warts and in rare cases can lead to cervical cancer

...A Planned Parenthood Express Center opened in Davis Square Plaza. You can get convenient access to birth control, EC, pregnancy testing, STI screening, and condoms!

...Emergency Contraception, commonly known as EC or the Morning After Pill, is available at Health Services.  EC is only $10.00 on campus and is effective in preventing unwanted pregnancy up to FIVE days after unprotected sex.

...EC is NOT the “abortion pill,” RU-486.  If you are pregnant and use EC, the pregnancy will not be harmed. For more information visit http://ase.tufts.edu/healthservice/birthcontrolEmergency.htm

...Any exam or treatment provided at Tufts Health Services is kept strictly confidential. This includes all visits related to sexual health including contraception (and emergency contraception), routine gynecological exams, and pharmacy services. Nothing will even appear on your Bursar bill without your consent.
