About Tufts Summer Study
Tufts Summer Study is the university’s summer pre-college
program for rising high school juniors (class of 2012) and
seniors (class of 2011). Tufts Summer Study is
non-residential; no on-campus housing is available.
Choose the Program that is Right for You
Summer is an ideal time to stretch your mind in new ways,
and Tufts is the ideal place for you to start college early.
Our four summer enrollment options offer something for just
about everyone, and give high achieving students the
opportunity to learn about college life at premier
university.
Choose from our popular Writing, Health Science Honors, or
Ethics & Global Citizenship programs. These programs are
designed specifically for rising high school juniors and
seniors, and are taught by experienced Tufts professors.
Through our College for Juniors program rising high school
seniors can enroll in selected courses offered by
departments in the Schools of Arts & Sciences and
Engineering in the university’s second summer session. Take
a course in astronomy, learn about Boston’s architecture,
expand your French comprehension, or discover the world of
Film or Drama. With approximately 40 course offerings, Tufts
has a course that is right for you.
Dates
Tufts Summer Study runs from July 6 – August 13, 2010. Most
classes meet two or three times weekly.
Costs
Tuition at Tufts in the summer is charged by the course.
Courses without labs will cost $1,840. Courses with labs
will be charged at $1,985. (Note: Costs are preliminary and
are subject to change).
Admission
High school students who wish to be considered for
enrollment at Tufts this summer will have their applications
read by the Tufts Summer Study Admissions Committee.
Credentials in support of admission include:
- Application ▪SAT or PSAT Scores
- Personal Essay
- High School Transcript
- Letters of Recommendation
- Application Fee ($25)
The application deadline Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Note, the
application deadline for Health Science Honors is May 14,
2010.
Extras
As a student at Tufts this summer, you will have access to
university libraries, computer labs, athletic facilities,
and galleries. Additionally, at no extra cost, Tufts Summer
Study offers an SAT Prep, Admissions Essay Writing, and
College Life & Planning workshops.
