Katie Aasland is a doctoral student in the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University, where she also received her M.A. She graduated from Grand Valley State University with a B.A. in Psychology and Anthropology. Initially interested in cross-cultural psychology, she discovered her interest in qualitative methods during her work on a national longitudinal study with the Center for Promise/America's Promise Alliance. Her current research interests include program evaluation, community-based participatory research, and spatial analysis to inform programing using GIS. Currently, these interests are combined in her work conducting a needs assessment for The Children's Trust of Massachusetts in anticipation of their new child maltreatment prevention initiative.
