Special Events
To kick off our year, and to get to know the families better, we have a year-opening potluck. Families supply the food, we supply the drinks and cookies! It's a great time to get to know the families both within the classes and across the Center. Old families greet the new, and we share a delicious meal.
On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving we celebrate by inviting all families to eat lunch with their children in the classrooms. While families are welcome to join their child any day, it is a nice celebration to have everyone together all at once. Many families have a chance to leave work a little early before Thanksgiving, and we love to have them join us for a little down time before the busy holiday.
One early morning in December, we invite all families to join us for a hot breakfast. In this hectic time of year with cold mornings, it's nice to see our community take time to relax and warm up with each other.
Every month during the school year, we have an all-school Sing-Along, which is always attended by a number of families. The children share all the songs they've learned, and enjoy the excitement. The last Sing-Along of the year is a special celebration, with all families and Special Friends highly encouraged to attend. It's a terrific show, and all the kids are proud to show their families and Special Friends what they know.
This event is like the Fall Potluck in every way but community dynamic. By now everyone knows everyone, and we take time to relax in the warm weather and celebrate the end of a wonderful school year. Held one evening in June, we still have two months left together of summer fun, and it's a great time to recognize what a community we've become.
On the very last day of the year, we close the Center with an afternoon ice cream sundae and fruit salad party. It's a fun way to say good-bye.
