Tufts Men Against Violence Constitution



ARTICLE I - NAME

Section I. Name
The name of this organization is Tufts Men Against Violence.

Section II. Acronym
Tufts Men Against Violence will be abbreviated as TMAV. 

ARTICLE II - PURPOSE

Section I. Mission Statement
As men concerned with issues surrounding violence, we will explore our identities, educate the community and ourselves, and create social change.

Section II. Goals

  1. To facilitate awareness and prevention of sexual assault and domestic violence. 
  2. To promote healthy relationships and interpersonal communication skills. 
  3. To confront prejudice that leads to violence including homophobia, sexism, and racism. 
  4. To teach ander management, conflict resolution, and constructive assertiveness. 
  5. To challenge members to explore issues surrounding masculinity, sexuality, and gender. 
ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP

Section I. Active Membership
Active Membership is open to any Tufts male undergraduate who has paid his Student Activities fee. A man is eligible for this status after attending his first two meetings and signing the active membership contract. These members must attend at least one education session a month to retain their active membership status.

Section II. Supporting Membership
Supporting membership is open to anybody. These members will receive organizational mailings. They will be asked to attend larger events and to contribute to the organization. However, no attendence is required for this membership status.
