How to Transfer Tufts Courses

For students who do not attend Tufts in the fall or spring terms

Tufts University’s course credit system may be different from your school’s.  A Tufts course is expressed in terms of academic units.
You may be familiar with a "credit hour" system.  A one unit Tufts course is the equivalent of a three or four credit hour course (whichever is considered a full course at your school).

To transfer a course, request a transcript from Tufts University Student Services and give the transcript to the appropriate office at your college or university.

Tufts University also has a unique course numbering system.  Courses numbered:

1-99: Undergraduate;
100-199: Graduate and Undergraduate;
200 & Up: Strictly Graduate

If you need to pre-clear a course with your college or University, contact
the instructor and ask for a copy of the course syllabus.

Remember, every college and university has policies and procedures that determine the permissibility of college credit earned elsewhere.  Earning summer credit at Tufts is not a guarantee that the course will transfer, but every summer, hundreds of college students transfer summer credit earned at Tufts to other universities.
